Cabernet Maple Leaves, Shibori/Jacquard Vintage Kimono Silk Piece from Japan, 14" x 45" #AR125

Gorgeous piece of silk that was once part of an exquisite kimono, decades ago.  Our supplier/friend in Japan took the kimono apart stitch by stitch so that this silk can live on. True shibori, very textured and supple, flowy and soft, lightweight pure silk. This piece has six maple leaves and 6-8 white shibori dots.  The base jacquard adds glow and detail; it's a design with more maple leaves. The background is darkest reddish raisin purple with tie die in a slightly lighter tone. As with many of the finer kimono silks from 'back in the day', this one probably took many months, processes and experts to create, all by hand.
