Brown Hemp Leaf Ikat Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan By the Yard #516
Rustic, slubby and chunky, with lots of texture , plenty of black mixed in with the dark reddish brown, white and gray. This silk is lightweight, thin and soft, with lots of natural variance. It has a bit of body and is slightly crisp. A true ikat, both sides are the same. Asanoha is the pattern of hexagons and hemp leaf motifs and is thought to have powers to ward off evil. It's also used to wish for healthy growth for children, as hemp is strong and fast-growing. 14" wide and sold by the full yard; we'll cut yours in one piece from the excellent condition, never used vintage bolt. Our opinion is that this silk is probably quite old, plant dyed and hand woven. 100% Silk Japan.
